The Oro Valley Theatre Company will hold auditions for the second production of its 2026–2027 season, ON GOLDEN POND by Ernest Thompson..

 

Oro Valley Theatre Company is pleased to announce auditions for On Golden Pond, the beloved play by Ernest Thompson.

Return to the shimmering shores of Golden Pond, where Norman and Ethel Thayer spend what may be their final summer together at their lakeside cottage. Filled with warmth, humor, wit, and emotional depth, On Golden Pond is a timeless story about family, aging, reconciliation, and the enduring power of love.

 

This production will run February 18th-21st at the Gaslight Music Hall, with rehearsals beginning in early January.

We are auditioning for all roles except Chelsea (the daughter) and Charlie (the mailman).

 

Roles Available:

Norman Thayer, Jr. — 70 to 80. Intelligent, witty, cantankerous, and sharply funny. Beneath his sarcasm and preoccupation with aging is a man confronting his own vulnerability.

Ethel Thayer — 60 to 70. Warm, energetic, loving, and grounded. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is the emotional heart of the family.

Bill Ray — 40s.  Chelsea's fiancé. Intelligent and confident, with a dry sense of humor. He must navigate Norman's intimidating personality while holding his own.

Billy Ray, Jr. — 13 to 15. Teenager. Bill's son. Initially guarded and somewhat rebellious, Billy develops an unexpected and meaningful friendship with Norman.

 

Please have a prepared monologue. Auditioners may also be asked to read from the script.
